ABOUT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF GOIÁS

The Federal University of Goiás (Universidade Federal de Goiás – UFG) was founded in December 14th, 1960. The university has more than 28 thousand students and 4 thousand public servants distributed in some cities as Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia and Cidade de Goiás.

Currently, this university offers 156 undergraduate courses, annually offering 7 thousand vacancies for higher education, and 85 graduate programs such as masters, doctorates and professional master’s degrees, with more than 4200 students.

The UFG also offers several services to its students, employers and external community, such as sports center, art galleries, cultural centers, anthropological museum, planetarium, theater, cinema, language center, libraries and auditoriums. In addition, UFG also has a TV and radio station: TV UFG and Radio UFG.

The university also promotes events such as Curta o Campus, which offers different activities to participants in the scientific, technological, artistic, cultural and philosophical fields, as well as musical events such as Música no Campus which recognizes, values and spreads the Brazilian music. This brings to UFG music concerts, where popular music groups are recognized for their excellence – indeed, a true reflection of the musical wealth and cultural diversity of Brazil, at affordable prices.

Furthermore, the UFG is concerned with the physical and mental health of its community, offering medical doctors, social workers, psychologists, art therapists, dental care and a health post located on the Samambaia campus, in Goiânia. In addition, this university offers health services by the Hospital das Clínicas de Goiás (HC), located in Goiânia.
